Tom stumbled into the staffing industry when he accepted a position with one of the area’s largest staffing companies after one too many downturns in the oil field. He enjoyed matching good workers with good employers and found a new career. In 1995 Tom and Mark Fassett started All Trades with focus on providing tradesmen and support laborers to the construction and heavy manufacturing industries.
His diverse work history including construction, manufacturing, steel forging, automobile assembly, geology and oil field work prepared him for helping his customers and employees across a broad spectrum of work. Tom has been in the staffing industry since 1987.
Besides work, Tom’s favorite activities include exploring, camping, hiking, skiing, climbing, canyoneering and just about any outdoor activity with his family, friends and wife, Valerie.

Melanie Butler – Assistant
All Trades Salt Lake Staff
Mark Fassett – Partner
Growing up, my dad was a carpenter & a very hard worker. He instilled in me the importance of both of those abilities. I have been working and gaining experience in the construction trades since I was twelve years old.
After graduating high school, my first 2 jobs were in factory mfg & warehousing. I spent the following 15 years in & around assorted construction, blue collar related fields. As well as some college & vocational training, including electrical & plumbing, not only learning “how to” but also learning the disciplines it takes both physically & mentally of working day after day, knowing the pitfalls & dangers of different work environments. And certainly respecting those who are able to do it.
AFTER WORKING FOR A TEMPORARY SERVICE FOR 5 YEARS AND LEARNING THE BUSINESS, me & my boss partnered in our own temporary service specializing in what we know – construction & steel shop mfg. I have spent the last 15 years using the experiences I gained in those fields by placing others into similar positions. Being aware of the needs of each & every job.
Andy Poulos – Operations Manager
I began my career as a manufacturer’s agent selling industrial rubber and plastics in the Southern U.S. eventually transitioning to the gaming industry in casino operations and sales of ancillary gaming products. After a brief stint at The Stardust I went to work for Mirage Resorts, and eventually accepted a position with AACL Global, based in Trieste Italy. After September 11, 2001, I returned to Las Vegas to accept a position at The Palms, and taking an early retirement in 2011, which brought me to Salt Lake City, and All Trades.
I love the dynamic interaction with the employees, customers and the public. I find it very rewardi.ing to match our employees up with good jobs and help our customers complete their projects on time and lessen their work loads.
Paul Fairburn – Dispatcher/Recruiter
I have been with All Trades off and on since 2005. I had worked as a Temporary Employee for most of that until 2017 when I had a Work Injury and basically destroyed my right ankle so that I could not work in the Construction Field anymore, I was put on “Light-Duty, working in the office helping Dispatch, and have been here ever since. I love the staff that I work with, Tom Stechschulte especially, he has worked with me throughout my various problems and has been a “Great Mentor” for me. I love what I do and do my best to help our employees find steady work and keep them and our customers happy.
Steve Petersen – Account Representative
Steve has been in sales for over 20 years, getting his start in construction sales, later moving to technology sales, and now back to the construction industry. Steve understands what it’s like to be a hiring manager as he first became acquainted with All Trades when he was operations manager with a local insulation company. Steve is an Advanced Master Gardener with Utah State University and has served as an adjunct instructor for USU teaching classes in gardening and growing fruit trees at Thanksgiving Point. When winter’s wrath freezes the garden, you’ll frequently find Steve sitting on a frozen lake ice fishing.
Matt Stringfellow – Safety Risk Manager/Dispatcher Mgr.
I was born and raised in Bountiful, Utah. As a child I worked mowing lawns, picking vegetables and helping various family members. At age 14 I helped Jim Handly, one of my old teachers, frame a house and caught the construction bug.
After high school I took a job at YESCO sign manufacturing company in their wood shop. I built sign molds and taught skiing at Solitude Resort while attending the U of U.
In the mid-90’s I moved to Ennis, MT to be a fishing guide and work on timber framed and full scribe log homes. This was a great experience and lead to an opportunity to start my own tile business. Although my business was doing well I was presented with an opportunity to work as an installation manager for All Weather Roofing in Washington. It was too sweet of a deal to pass. A sever work accident to my right hand forced me to get out of construction for awhile while I underwent multiple surgeries and lengthy rehabilitation. During this period I moved back to Utah and worked as manager of High Country Fly-fishing.
Once my hand recovered I returned to construction and built custom homes in Victory Ranch and worked on the Freestone Lodge in the Kamas area. Unfortunately, the Great Recession disrupted those plans so I obtained my CDL A and hit the road. I liked seeing the country and enjoyed the job but it did not leave me enough time for fly fishing and rafting – two of my passions.
In early 2015 I joined the All Trades team and found a home. I have been involved in dispatching, recruiting, customer service and am currently the Safety and Risk manager and field rep. My long and varied work history has enabled me to relate well to our customers and employees and the many challenges of working in difficult environments safely and efficiently. I have my OSHA 30 and work with AGC and ABC to keep our people safe. I enjoy working with our many customers and employees helping to build Utah.
